INCI Chemical Name: Titanium Dioxide
Inert physical mineral sunscreen and white pigment. Highly photostable with virtually zero skin penetration when formulated in topical lotion/cream matrices.
Status: Banned in food in the European Union (2022) due to genotoxicity concerns of nanoparticle accumulation. Still used in some Indian confectionery.
FSSAI Permitted Limit: Restricted in India; undergoing safety evaluation.
